Director Gautham  Vasudev  Menon has been planning to make his first Mollywood film even before he made his Tamil debut. Oops the Malayalle audience was unfortunate in that case.

When things did not work out as planned then, Gautham always wanted to come back to make a film in Malayalam. Even as news of an upcoming Malayalam film, wherein he will mostly be directing actor Jayaram, does the rounds, Gautham tells us, "Back in the day, I was keen on working on a film with the superstars - Mammootty and Mohanlal. But they wanted me to make a film with them in Tamil."

The director with a strong filmography in his career says that Working in Mollywood also means a difficult situation as far as the budgets are concerned. "I work with technicians who come with a price. Locations were also another matter of concern”, says the splendid director when it comes to the exotic presence in his frames.

It is difficult, but I definitely do want to make a film in Malayalam at some point of my life. We are working out something, but it is too early to speak about it as things are not yet confirmed," says Gautham. The director who feels that there is no point in remaking one from Tamil as most of his Tamil films have already done well here in Kerala, he would be going with a new story.  "I have watched many of the recent ones and I find that there are fresh ideas, new writers and film makers coming up," he says.

"I have never looked at movies with that in mind. Whatever the script demands, I do. I consider films that win awards too as commercial”, was the thoughtful answer received from the master director of romantic and action flicks when asked about the kind of commercial success he may reach in Mollywood.
